LEAF SPRINGS RATES CAN BE ADJUSTED BY ADDING, REMOVING OR INVERTING EXISTING OR ADDING THICKER ONES. AN EASY WAY OF DOING THIS IS TO RETAIN THE ORIGINAL TOP SPRING (THE ONE WITH THE EYES) AND THEN A GET A NEW ONE MADE UP THE SAME LENGTH, SO IT HAS A GAP EACH END WHERE IT OVERLAPS THE EYES. FROM HERE YOU CAN MESS WITH THICKNESS, CAMBER OF LEAVES.
LOWERING
THERE ARE A COUPLE OF WAYS OF DOING THIS :-
1; A BLOCK FITTED BETWEEN THE TOP LEAF AND AXLE - DON'T FORGET YOU NEED LONGER U BOLTS..
2; RE-CAMBERED LEAVES.
3; TURN SOME OF THE LEAVES UPSIDE DOWN - THIS WILL ALSO INCREASE THE SPRING RATE.
4; REMOVE SOME LEAVE - REMEMBER WITH WILL REDUCE THE SPRING RATE
5; BUY A NEW SET.
MAKE SURE YOU DO BOTH SIDES AT THE SAME TIME. YOU MAY WANT TO RAISE THE DRIVERSIDE OR LOWER THE PASSANGER SIDE SO THAT THE CAR SITS LEVEL WITH YOU IN THE DRIVING SEAT.
